So your dog got into a fight …

If your dog gets into a fight with another dog, no matter what the reason, it will have lasting effects. It can throw your dog’s psyche into a hyper defensive mode and they can become more reactive, more quickly, than before. It’s purely a survival instinct and a need to quash any perceived threat quickly. It is usually fueled by fear and anxiety.

If your dog has gotten into a squabble with another dog, watch them closely afterward and make sure to re-socialize them slowly and cautiously! It is imperative that you do not completely isolate them from other dogs afterward but that you DO monitor them closely and help them regain their perspective of safety in the world!
