Welcome to See Spot Sit!
Some things you need to know for class:
This is a reward-based obedience training (and more) course. The success of this course largely depends on your commitment at class and to short, focused practice sessions at home! A minimum of 3 practice sessions are recommended each day (5 are better). Keep them short at 10-15 minutes each.. While we do teach the curriculum of the American Kennel Club, Canine Good Citizen program and test for certification and/or title. We also educate you regarding dog behavior, potential breed traits, human behavior and how it affects your dog and basically how to speak a little dog.
*If your dog suffers from anxiety or fear of stranger dogs and/or humans which results in aggressive reactivity or “submissive shutting down” please provide details in your sign up form. I will contact you after reviewing the information and together we can tailor a program that is right for you and your dog, which may include a recommendation for private, behavior modification sessions beginning with a 2 hour temperament, needs and goals assessment.
***Puppies must be 10 days out from their second set of shots to come to public classes. To be safe, check with your vet!***
What to Bring:
- 4 – 6 foot leash. Retractable leashes are not allowed in class.
- Treats. Small, tasty and aromatic treats to help motivate your dog to play the silly human games we ask them to play. 🙂 The key words are “small” and “aromatic”. (Please 🙂 make them grain free and healthy too.) Be sure to try them with Fido before class to make sure he/she thinks they are SUPER YUMMY!
- Treat bags are optional but extremely convenient! 🙂
- Properly fitted collar. We are happy to help you check the fit when you arrive or you can check the fit by making sure you can slide two fingers snugly underneath the collar. No shoulder clipping harnesses unless you have a very small dog. Harnesses are allowed but only if they have a d-ring at the chest for attaching the leash.
- Potty bags.
- Fresh water for your dog.
- A happy, positive, determined and confident attitude!

Humans Only Class
“Humans Only” classes are held on the third Thursday of each month. These are extremely informative and important. This is where you get to ask all the questions you want and we get to delve into the inner workings of your dog’s mind.
Payment may be made by cash, credit/debit card or check at the beginning of your first class. If you prefer to make your payment in advance by credit or debit card, please request a telephone call in your sign up form for processing your payment. Prepayments receive a 10% discount.
Please don’t feed your dog breakfast or treats prior to morning classes or dinner if coming to an evening class to make sure “Spot” is motivated to “work for food” at class. 🙂 If your dog is more motivated by squeak balls, a toy or praise, no treats needed.
In the event of cancellation or any other change in class schedule, we will post on our Facebook page at least an hour before class.. An email update will also be sent via the website so be sure to sign up with the “Join Our Pack” email news.
*If you are not on Facebook or prefer to text or call, please note this in your sign up information.
You will be given a password to access the homework when you begin classes. Once you receive the password, simply the HOMEWORK icon and you’ll be prompted for a password.
Doing your homework is imperative to your dog’s success and is required.
You will only have to enter the password the first time, then our site will remember you pledged to do this homework when you pledged to fulfill the oath. 🙂
If you have any questions prior to joining the class please feel free to use our “Contact Us” form. If you have questions during the course, they can be addressed at “humans only” class or you can email them to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Not ready for class yet? No problem! You can request a free 10 minute telephone consultation or, if you prefer, you may request a 30 minute ($30); 45 minute ($40); or 1 hour ($50) telephone consultation. Credit or debit card payment is taken over the telephone prior to the beginning of your consultation. A follow-up email may be requested for an additional $15.00 fee.
